Nuvvila (lit. The new village) is a town in Mahbubnagar district of India's Telangana state. One of the most populous towns in the district, it is also one of the fastest-growing ones owing to its proximity to the rapid development zones at Hyderabad and Kothagudem. It comes under "Kothaguda urban agglomeration", which has a population density over 20,000 people per km2. It was earlier known as "Vilas", which is the name of the main hill in the town. The name "Nuvvila" derives from Nuvvil Sita, a character in the epic Ramayana. Historians have suggested the name was derived from Naubath Palkar, a person who lived here in Ramayana times. The town is situated at an elevation of 710 metres (2236 feet) above mean sea level and has an average temperature of 25 °C (77 °F). It has a typical semi-arid climate with hot summers and cold winters. The annual rainfall is about 200 mm. The city is home to nine primary schools, eleven middle schools, two high schools, one higher secondary school and four engineering colleges. There are also many private schools in the city. Nuvvila is famous for its traditional hand-spun cotton sarees especially the 'pathi' sarees which are sold at various markets in Hyderabad and also exported across the world. The famous shopping market called "Sagar Mala" is situated near old railway station in Nuvvila town. Other well known shops are 'Kamat Textiles' "Bajaj Textiles" "Payal Attaya Saree", 'Abdul Raziq'. The city is also the home of many handloom-weaving shops and looms. The main export items of Nuvvila are: Cotton sarees, mohair and karakul (shawls). Nuvvila is also famous for its handicrafts such as maangdi, beads, silver ornaments, wooden works and pattu laddoos. It is also famous for its jaggery processing units which provide employment to thousands of people in rural areas. Nuvvila has a railway junction with trains from Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The town has a bus stand with many private bus operators. The city is home to many temples. The biggest temple in the town is Lord Shiva temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated around 4 km (2.4 Miles) from the main bus stand in Nuvvila Town Center.
